Getting married on Lake Orta?
The quietest of the
Italian lakes
Lake Orta is smaller and quieter than Como or Maggiore, and that is exactly its magic. Orta San Giulio looks west across the water: cobbled lanes, frescoed houses, Piazza Motta opening onto the lake, and the island of San Giulio a few minutes away by boat.
I am a wedding photographer based in Alba, in Piedmont, and I have been photographing weddings since 2009. I travel to Lake Orta for couples from all over the world: we plan the day together, in English, so the best light falls on the moments that matter.

Why couples fall for it
Three reasons to say yes here

The village
Narrow lanes, old façades and the lake at the end of every street: Orta San Giulio is made for unhurried portraits after the ceremony.

The island
A few minutes by boat from Piazza Motta, the island of San Giulio adds a quiet, almost timeless backdrop. We plan the crossing into your timeline.

The light
The village faces west over the water. On a clear evening the sunset turns the lake gold: the perfect moment for your couple portraits.

A few tips
Planning a wedding on Lake Orta
What I have learned photographing weddings on the Italian lakes: small choices that make the day calmer, and your photographs better.
Ask me anything →Plan the boat
Boats to the island leave from Piazza Motta. Book a private transfer and give it real time in the timeline, so nobody has to rush.
Choose your day
On summer weekends the village is busy. A Friday or a weekday wedding means quieter lanes and freer portraits.
Save the golden hour
Keep twenty to thirty minutes free around sunset for portraits by the water. It is the light everybody remembers.
Prepare a plan B
Porticos, cloisters and the venue’s own rooms: we choose the rainy-day option together, before the wedding.
Getting there
Milan Malpensa airport is about 45 minutes away by car. I come from Alba, about two hours’ drive.

Your questions
Do you photograph weddings on Lake Orta?
Yes. I am based in Alba, about two hours away, and I travel to Lake Orta and the other Italian lakes. Any travel costs are clearly listed in your proposal.
Where can we get married on Lake Orta?
Civil ceremonies are usually held at Villa Bossi, the town hall of Orta San Giulio, overlooking the lake. Religious ceremonies take place in the local churches, and receptions in lakeside villas and hotels. I am happy to tell you what works best for photographs.
Do you speak English?
Yes, from our first video call to the last dance. I work with couples from abroad, and everything we share is in English.
When is the best season?
From May to early October. Late spring and September usually bring softer light and fewer visitors in the village.
How do we book our date?
With a signed contract and a deposit. Until then, the date stays available to other couples.
When will we receive our photographs?
A sneak peek within two weeks, and the full gallery within four months, in a private online gallery.
