A wedding in Tuscany

Valle di Badia,
in the hills of Pisa

Valle di Badia is an 18th-century village in the hills above Pisa, at Buti, between Pisa and Lucca: stone houses, a chapel with an arched portico, terraced gardens, cypress lanes and pools looking out over the woods.

Sherwin and Tshintshi live in Switzerland and married here on 29 September 2025, with a symbolic ceremony in front of the chapel. The day was planned by Evelyne Schärer of Your Perfect Day.

It was a day full of real emotion: bridesmaids in tears at the first sight of the bride, Sherwin covering his face as she walked towards him, vows read through tears and laughter, a small tree planted together. And then a party that did not want to end.

Dreaming of Tuscany?

Getting married at
Valle di Badia

What I have learned photographing a wedding at Valle di Badia, in the hills between Pisa and Lucca. More tips on my Tuscany wedding page.

Time

The village is large: you go up and down between the chapel, the gardens and the pools. Leave a few extra minutes between ceremony, portraits and drinks: the best photos happen without rushing.

The light

At the end of September the sun sets early behind the hills. Plan your couple portraits right after the ceremony, while the light is still warm.

The ritual

With a symbolic ceremony you can choose a gesture that feels like you: Sherwin and Tshintshi planted a tree together. A gesture made in front of everyone says more than any pose.
