A wedding in Tuscany
Castello del Trebbio,
in the heart of Chianti
Castello del Trebbio feels untouched by time: medieval walls, a courtyard framed by arches, a cellar under stone vaults, and all around nothing but olive groves, vineyards and hills. This is Chianti Rufina, less than an hour from Florence.
Anri and Elisabeth came from Norway and married on 1 July 2025, with a civil ceremony in the castle courtyard. The night before, a dinner in the historic cellar, among the barrels and under the stone vaults.
Then getting ready in the stone farmhouses, a first look below the walls, vows beneath the arches. And at the end, portraits among the olive trees at sunset, a red Fiat 500 and dinner on the terrace as the castle lights up at blue hour.

First look and ceremony
A first look below the walls, then her entrance on her father's arm, Anri moved to tears, a courtyard full of friends, violin and guitar, the rings, the signing and applause as they step out.

Dreaming of Chianti?
Getting married at
Castello del Trebbio
What I have learned photographing weddings at Castello del Trebbio, between Florence and the hills of Chianti Rufina. More tips on my Tuscany wedding page.
The night before
The castle has a historic vaulted cellar and a terrace over the hills: two very different settings for a welcome dinner. The cellar feels intimate; the terrace has the sunset.
The light
In summer the sun sets late behind the hills. Keep twenty minutes free after half past seven for portraits among the olive trees: it is the best light of the day.
The heat
In July it is hot even up in the hills. In the late afternoon the courtyard is partly in shade: the right time for the ceremony. Think of fans and water for your guests.
