Getting married in Tuscany

Tuscany,
beyond the postcard

Tuscany is a dream for so many couples, and I understand why: hills that change colour by the hour, olive groves, cypresses, stone villages and an evening light that seems made for photographs.

I live and work in Alba, in the Langhe, and every year I happily travel to Tuscany to photograph weddings for Italian and international couples, from the Chianti to the hills between Pisa and Lucca.

My way of working stays the same: no forced poses, close attention to people and to light. I want to tell the story of your day in Tuscany, not the postcard.

Three tips
for Tuscany

What I have learned photographing weddings between the Chianti and the hills of Pisa.

The light

In summer the sun stays high and strong until evening. Plan the ceremony and portraits for late afternoon: the hour before sunset, among olive trees and cypresses, is the one you will remember.

Distances

Country roads between the hills are beautiful but slow. If the ceremony and reception are in two different places, plan the timing carefully: a venue where you can do everything, or nearly, makes the day easier.

The season

May, June and September are the gentlest months: pleasant temperatures and green or golden countryside. July and August work too, with a schedule designed around the heat.

Frequently asked questions

Getting married in Tuscany: the questions couples ask me most

Do you really travel to Tuscany for weddings?

Yes. I live in Alba, in the Langhe, and every year I also photograph weddings in Tuscany, from the Chianti to the hills between Pisa and Lucca. I arrive the day before, so on your wedding day I am rested and already know the light of the place.

Are there travel costs?

Travel and accommodation are listed clearly in the quote, item by item, so you know from the start what you will spend. No surprises at the end of the day.

How far in advance should we book?

I take on a limited number of weddings each year. For the most popular dates, between May and September, it is best to write to me as soon as you have set your date and venue.

Which Tuscan venues have you worked at?

In Tuscany I have photographed weddings at, among others, Castello del Trebbio and Villa Mangiacane in the Chianti, Villa Le Bolli in Radicondoli, in the hills near Siena, and Valle di Badia, in the hills near Pisa. I am also happy to work at villas, villages and farmhouses I do not know yet: in that case I visit or study the place before the wedding.

Do you speak English?

Yes. Many of the couples I photograph in Tuscany come from abroad: we talk, plan and work together in English without any problem.

Can you also cover the welcome dinner?

Yes. When the wedding lasts several days, as often happens in Tuscany, I can also photograph the welcome dinner or the brunch the day after. We decide together when we plan your timeline.
